New Orleans, La.- Former Loyola baseball player Brian Mason signed today with the Reno Silver Sox of the Golden Baseball League.
Mason completed his Loyola career with a program record 240 hits. He maintained a .417 batting average with four home runs, 44 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 2008. He was an All-GCAC selection and a three time Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete.
In the "new era" of Loyola athletics, Mason ranks second in career batting average (.345) and runs scored (150) and fifth in RBI (114). He also is second in Loyola single season batting average (.417).

 Bo Prather of Park. Prather to join former Bellevue , MoBap hurlers as NAIA rookies with Southern Illinois MARION, Ill. – Former Park University left-handed pitcher Bo Prather signed Monday with the Southern Illinois Miners, an independent professional baseball franchise based in Marion , Ill.
The Miners play in the Frontier League, which is comprised of teams in Missouri , Illinois , Indiana , Ohio , Michigan , Kentucky and Pennsylvania .
Prather, who made 10 starts and appeared in 11 games, tossed 55.1 innings on the season, striking out 41 and posting a 6-4 mark on the mound.

Current Sports Information Director and Associate Athletic Director at The College of Idaho, Mike Safford know that feeling all to well, as he spends his summer months as the "Voice of the Hawks." Safford is the play-by-play radio announcer for the Boise Hawks, which is a Class A Short-Season affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
Along with covering all aspects of The College of Idaho's 18 sports, Safford is in the midst of his fourth season with the Hawks' organization. In 2002, Safford joined the staff working as the official scorer and public address announcer. One year later, Safford took over as the Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations and has called over 200 minor league games in his career, including the organization's sixth Northwest League championship in 2004 via a three-game sweep over the Vancouver Canadians that included the 5-3 victory that clinched the championship.

JACKSON, Tenn. – Former Union University and major league baseball player Luis Ortiz has landed a minor league coaching job with the Spokane (Wash.) Indians. Spokane is a Class A short season minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Ortiz, a Union Bulldog from 1989-91, is in his first season as the team's hitting coach.
Currently, Ortiz has his Spokane team leading the league with a .283 team batting average. Spokane also sits atop the Northwest League Standings with a 27-8 record, five games better than their nearest competitor.

FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head baseball coach Mike Jeffcoat announced today the hiring of Texas Rangers Hall of Famer Rusty Greer as an assistant coach.
Jeffcoat, a former Ranger and ten-year major league veteran, was excited about what Greer will bring to the program. "This is not only a tremendous boost to our coaching staff, but to our recruiting process as well," Jeffcoat commented. "I look forward to seeing Rusty display his work ethic and competitive nature to the kids in our program, and the coaching staff looks forward to learning from him as well."
With a coaching staff and facility (LaGrave Field) that are second to none in college baseball, Texas Wesleyan has developed into one of the top programs in the NAIA. After reaching the NAIA Region VI final in 2007, the Rams finished third in the 2008 Regional which featured two of the nation's top-five teams.

The Minot State University Football team was invited to play with the local Dream  Catchers organization in their weekly Thursday evening baseball game. They were treated to a beautiful rain free evening with comfortable 80 degree temps for the game.
The evening kicked off with the younger groups game, which consisted of about 20 plus young athletes and Head Coach Paul Rudolph and 17 current Beaver football players. The young dream catcher members picked sides and the game began. Below are some pictures from the first game.
